About Me
Hi, I’m Avery. I am currently a junior in high school and I have struggled with underlying and undiagnosed anxiety and depression almost all my life. I also tend to be a perfectionist at times (most times). Almost two years ago, I was properly diagnosed with anxiety and depression and since then, have been on a journey to heal my mental health. For the past two years, I have been working on my self-image, self-confidence, self-discovery, and self-love. Although I am not fully recovered, I have collected a multitude of experience that I know must be similar to others out there.
Since mental illnesses are invisible to the public eye, people who suffer with them often feel isolated and helpless. One of my main purposes of starting this blog a little over a year ago was to change that pattern. I do not want anyone to suffer in silence and without help because as someone who went through it, I know how terrible it feels. My goal for this blog is to build a safe and accepting online environment that helps uncover the hidden “mysteries” of mental illness, while also hopefully helping heal those who struggle with them. Although I am only a teenager and this may come as a weakness, I believe this is also a strength, as my point of view can reach and relate to so many. And I so hope it does. I have big plans for this blog and its expansion. This is only the beginning. I hope you will tag along with me.
