The biggest factor of self-confidence is trusting yourself. You have to trust that no matter the situation, you will work hard and come through FOR YOURSELF. Having faith in yourself even when you are in a shitty situation is the foundation for self-confidence.
If you want to build up your self-confidence, you have to build up your trust in yourself. To do this, start simple and progress from there. Practice having full and complete trust in yourself to do a small task. For example, make it a goal to work for 30 minutes straight without picking up your phone. Prove to yourself that even if you feel the urge to pick up your phone, you won’t because you promised yourself you wouldn’t. Or if you have a plan to wake up early and workout, prove to yourself that you can do it even if it is hard not to press the snooze button. Trusting yourself to complete these tasks and then completing them builds trust in yourself. As you start to establish trust, you can move up to bigger and more daunting tasks. Then move into tasks that you really don’t know if you can complete, and have faith that you can. Eventually, when difficult situations come about in life, you will have faith and trust in yourself that you will get through them. This translates to confidence because you believe in yourself to push through. You do not doubt yourself and you know you have the ability to complete anything.
Building confidence and trust in yourself is the same as building confidence and trust in another person. Start with small tasks, and once you see that they will not let you down, you begin to trust them and have confidence in their abilities. Don’t get me wrong, the process is slow, but it is worth it to see the little milestones you accomplish along the way. Before you know it, you will be making huge strides of progress.
