Butterfly Effect

Just thinking about the time I had to explain to my old therapist what the “butterfly effect” meant because she didn’t know what it was. I said:

The butterfly effect is the symbolism of a small, seemingly insignificant event that causes a much larger, unpredicted outcome – like one butterfly flapping its wings to cause violent storms later on.

The butterfly effect is such an impactful thing, but the magic of it is that most times, if there is a major event that happens in your life, you’re not going to be able to identify which specific tiny event started the chain reaction. So essentially, it is all these events being strung together, but the strings are invisible. Nobody can see which direction the next string will go. That’s the beauty in the butterfly effect. It goes by unnoticed until there is an event so significant that it forces people to notice.
